Today is the AHIBA3 amateur draft. Everyone wants to be drafted first, but the real story lies in the obscure pick several rounds removed from the limelight. These are players in the draft, who might never make the big leagues, but some who could just as easily become Hall of Famers. In any case, the quest to find that hidden nugget begins in earnest today. Washington, Los Angeles, Montreal, Maine and Colchester will have the first five selections.

ABL News: The Offseason Begins
October 28th, 2012 Wait until next year! That is the battle cry for the fans of all but one ABL team. While the 2012 champs get to brag to their buddies about the championship, it's time for general managers to rehash last year and figure out ways to improve their teams. It is the offseason in baseball. The diamonds and the stadiums are void of activity, but the front offices are bristling with energy. October 24th, 2012 Wingate fans will be disappointed to learn that George Lewis suffered a hamstring strain while running the bases in today's game. After the doctor informed the Wingate Gladiators manager that Lewis was expected to miss 3 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the shortstop could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper. |
