Star SP Signs Pact with Choppers

Team officials triumphantly announced that the Choppers and superstar starting pitcher Jack Rhodes have closed a deal that keeps the 26-year-old in a Colchester uniform for another 1 year.

Rhodes will earn $6,500,000 as part of the settlement.

During his career Rhodes has registered a 28-28 record with a 4.75 ERA.

 

Lonc Garners HL Top Skipper Award

The Thunder Bay Bombers coaching staff broke out the bubbly when Manager Ken Lonc was announced as 2012 Hurlers League Manager of the Year.

He skippered the Bombers to a 117-45 record this year and a first place finish in the Hurlers League Young.

To a man, they all agreed that their boss was most deserving of the award. All had glowing words to say about this year's winning manager.

"He just has a way with people. Coaches and players alike love him."

 

Hurlers League Selects Best Rookie

All the games have been played, all the votes have been counted and the recipient of the prestigious Hurlers League Rookie of the Year is Kirby O'Baire of the Montreal Hitmen.

This talented first-year performer hit .305 and put up a .419 OBP. In 157 games this year, the third baseman collected 183 hits in 600 at-bats, 35 home runs, 103 RBIs and scored 116 times.

 

Sluggers League Announces Best Manager

The Wingate Gladiators had an outstanding season, much of it due to their astute and gifted skipper. For his managerial excellence, Jeff Palin reaped the reward of being voted Sluggers League Manager of the Year.

"A manager is only as good as the players he's managing," Palin told reporters. "If I didn't have the talent to work with, making all the right moves wouldn't have helped a bit."

Under Palin the Gladiators finished first in the Sluggers League Mantle with a record of 105-57.

 

Miami Dark Passengers - 2012 Season Wrap up

The Miami Dark Passengers season was a "Slice of Life" quoted team owner Dexter Morgan. Miami celebrated its 1st division title and playoff appearance with a 101 win season. Event hough they lost in the Wild Card round, they are primed to slice the competition for the upcoming season. Miami's 2012 season was highlighted by brilliant pitching from starters Cuevas (17 wins), Encarnacion (17 wins), Bernard (16 wins) and Sandoval (14 wins). Cuevas, Encarnacion & Bernard all enjoyed success during their 1st season in Miami. Mid Season rookie call up Quintanilla contributed with an 8-4 record. He is poised to continue his rookie success and to show why team management repeatedly turned down all trade offers for him. The bullpen also was not to be outdone. They were lead by veteran closer Miguel Hormaza with 39 saves and a 1.62 ERA. Setup man Ramiro Rivera had a stellar ERA of 1.81.
